Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary erroneous record and to attain a prompt access when a next recording and reproducing command is issued by executing the reciprocating motion of an optical card while an AT and an AF are executed even in a standby condition. CONSTITUTION:A means to relatively execute the reciprocating motion of an optical head 16 and an optical information recording medium (optical card) 1 is provided. A focus control circuit 24 and a tracking control circuit 23 move an objective lens 14 in a light axis direction and in a direction orthogonal to the light axis respectively, and auto-focusing (AF) and auto-tracking (AT) are executed. In the standby condition, where the recording and reproducing of information is not executed, the reciprocating motion of the optical head 16 and the optical card 1 is executed during the control of the AF and the AT. Thus, the unnecessary erroneous signal is not recorded on the optical card 1, and the new recording and reproducing is attained at high speed.
