Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten contact time of molding with softened glass and prevent surface roughness, etc., of molding mold, by charging a glass raw material moldably heated and softened between molding molds while supporting the glass with a retaining component and discharging a glass lens after molding from the space between molding molds. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical lens raw material 13 whose press face is polished is put on a table 22 and the table 22 is conveyed through a heating oven and the raw material heated to the prescribed temperature is held with components 34 and 34. Then the raw material 13 is carried through the components 34 and 34 into between upper and lower molds 31 and 32 maintained to temperature which is 100 deg.C lower than that of the above-mentioned raw material and press- molded. After molding, the upper and lower molds 31 and 32 are returned to original state and lens 13a after molding is returned through the components 34 and 34 to the first position. Each holding part 34a of the components 34 and 34 is opened and the lens 13a after molding is put on a lens stage 25 moved upward. Thereafter, the lens 13a is unloaded on a conveyer 20, by which the lens 13a is them conveyed into a gradually cooling oven 21, gradually cooled and taken out.
