Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify mechanism to mount/dismount a recording pen for size reduction by transferring a moving penholder that has a magnetic mechanism to attract the recording pen and a pen holding unit giving directivity for its mount/dismount and a stationary pen holder with plural pen holding units in prescribed relationship. CONSTITUTION: Surface of a recording pen 2 is partly or mostly covered with a magnetic material and attracted/held onto a stationary penholder 10 or a moving penholder 9. First, when the recording pen 2 currently in recording while held by the moving penholder 9 is transferred to a vacant pen holding unit (e.g. unit 221) on the stationary penholder 22, a carriage 1 and the stationary penholder 22 are driven in directions of G and K, respectively, to match their positions, and further driven toward K to make the recording pen 2 held by the holding unit 221. Next, when transferring the desired recording pen 2 to the moving penholder 9, the stationary penholder 22 makes the desired recording pen 2 await at an upper part of the matching point, while the moving penholder 9 is driven in the direction of H, and the stationary penholder 22 is transferred in the direction of J to finish replacement operation.
