Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the accurate adjustment and control of mold clamping force and, in addition, make a highly precise detecting device unnecessary by a method wherein springs, which elastically transmit the mold clamping force applied to a movable platen to a mold die platen so as to allow detection of the distortion of the springs corresponding to the mold clamping force. CONSTITUTION:In the mold clamping device 1 of a motorized injection molder, for example, a mold die platen 7 is arranged freely shiftable in parallel to a movable platen 6 at a distance. Also, guide rods 11, onto which coiled springs 8 are fittingly inserted, are insertedly provided on both sides of the movable platen 6 and of the mold die platen 7. A detecting device 20 to detect the amount of distortion (amount of compression) of the coiled springs 8 is arranged on a mold clamping device 1. When a mold clamping motor 14 keeps on rotating, the mold clamping force is applied to the movable platen 6 so as to press the mold die platen 7 through the elastic force of the coiled springs 8 in order to give mold clamping force to a mold. In this case, the elastic force obtained by the amount of distortion W of the coiled springs 8 is set so as to correspond to the mold clamping force under the locked-up state of the mold. The elongation of tie bars 4 is shown in the enlarged form as the amount of distortion W of the coiled springs 8.
