Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high performance solid electrolyte fuel cell wherein gas diffusion is increased, output drop caused by concentration overpotential is prevented, and high conductivity is retained by using a fuel electrode prepared by adding a fuel electrode material to a substrate material, and by molding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A porous-substrate material which is chemically stable and has almost equal thermal expansion coefficient to other constituent materials and a fuel electrode material which is chemically stable, has large electronic conductivity, and has almost equal thermal expansion coefficient to other constituent amterials are mixed and molded to make a fuel electrode 1. If yttria stabilized zirconia is used as a solid electrolyte 2, for example, nickel is used as the fuel electrode material, and calcia stabilized zirconia as the substrate material. The fuel electrode 1, the solid electrolyte 2, and an air electrode 3 are stacked to form a high performance solid electrolyte fuel cell wherein gas diffusion is increased, output drop caused by concentration overpotential is prevented, and high conductivity is retained.
