PURPOSE:To use a proximity sensor regardless of the kinds of automobiles, by providing an auxiliary sensor electrode part to the proximity sensor for automobile and arranging an earth potential piercing member therein. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary sensor electrode part 3 is provided to a proximity sensor for an automobile and an earth potential piercing member 4 is arranged therein to generate fixed capacity C2 between the electrode part 3 and the member 4. Since the capacity C2 is markedly larger than the stray capacity C3 generated between the automobile proximity sensor and an automobile body 11, the capacity C3 can extremely reduce the effect of difference generated by the shape of the automobile body 11. This means that circuit constitution may be performed with due regard only to the capacity C2 showing no change in measuring the detection capacity C1 generated between an object 12 to be detected and the automobile proximity sensor and difference due to kinds of automobile can be substantially neglected.
