Abstract

PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain the title facing parts for gold-plated timepieces having excellent resistance to corrosion and wear by successively coating a nickel plated substrate layer, a palladium or its alloy plated intermediate layer, and a gold alloy plated finishing layer on the surface of a base material. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the facing-part base material consisting of metals and alloys is successively coated with a nickel plating as the substrate layer, a palladium of palladium alloy plating as the intermediate layer, and a gold alloy plating as the finishing layer. The thickness of the substrate layer is appropriately controlled to 1-10mum, the thickness of the intermediate layer to 0.1-5mum, and the thickness of the finishing layer to 0.1-3mum. Since the chemically stable palladium or palladium alloy plated layer having high resistance to corrosion and wear is provided as the intermediate layer, inexpensive facing parts for timepieces having excellent resistance to corrosion and wear and having a gold alloy plated finishing layer can be obtained.
