Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composite material hardly deteriorated even when irradiated with radiation, by a method wherein a glass fiber fabric occupies 30-80vol.% of the composite material and a synthetic resin is composed of a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:All of warp yarns 1, weft yarns 2 and vertical yarns 3 extend linearily to cross each other at right angle in a three-dimensional fabric A and, therefore, yarns can be densely woven and arranged. When the fabric A is impregnated with a resin and the resin is cured, a composite material high in fiber content is obtained. In this case, the content of the three- dimensional fabric is within a range of 30-80vol.%. This composite material has high strength, high rigidity and high toughness in all of X-, Y- and Z- directions and also has electric and heat insulating properties and is equal to a metal in its low heat shrinkability until reaching low temp. or shows heat shrinkability smaller than that of the metal and is reduced in tensile strength, bending strength and interlayer shearing strength even when irradiated with radiation.
