Abstract

PURPOSE:To more quickly and simply retrieve and confirm a recording picture of a recording medium by providing a recording medium recording plural still pictures, a picture memory having a storage capacity for at least two patterns, a write control means controlling the write into the picture memory and a read control means reading a storage signal of the pattern. CONSTITUTION:After a pattern is stored in a memory 32 with reduction, a CPU 22 uses a deck control circuit 20 to move a head 12 onto other track of a disk 10 to reproduce the track. Prior to the storage of its reproducing signal into the memory 32, relevant horizontal and vertical start coordinates are loaded to horizontal and vertical coordinate counters 40, 42 to store them in the memory 32 with reduction. Thus, 25 pictures are stored with reduction in each field of the picture memory having a storage capacity of 2-field and in total 50 pictures are stored in the memory, then the entire recording picture on a disk is confirmed and retrieved instantly by the selective control of the field to be displayed.
