Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease flickering by providing a contrast detecting circuit, a buffer transistor (TR), 1st and 2nd buffer circuits of an open collector type, the outputs of which are connected via resistances to the emitter of the buffer TR and an arithmetic circuit. CONSTITUTION:The signal from the contrast detecting circuit 2 is inputted to the base of the buffer TR and the outputs of the buffer circuits 6, 8 to which AC driving voltage pulses of different phases are inputted via the resistances 10, 12 are inputted to the emitter. The level difference of the pulse voltages appearing in the outputs of the circuits 6, 8 is computed by the arithmetic circuit 14, by which the AC driving pulse voltage corresponding to the contrast of a video signal is obtd. The level of the pulses is low and the flickering is suppressed in the case of the small contrast if a liquid crystal shutter is driven by this pulse voltage. The level of the pulses is large and the shutter is driven in correspondence to the contrast in spite of the generation of some flickering if the contrast is large. The flickering is thus decreased down to a satisfactory level as a whole.
