Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an adhesive composition which has excellent consistent heating efficiency and is useful for dielectric bonding of synthetic resin, by incorporating short metal fibers into a thermoplastic resin so that said fibers are oriented in the resin. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin, such as PP or a polyester, is mixed with 5-200pts.wt. short metal fibers, such as Fe fibers or Ni fibers, having an aspect ratio of 5 or higher and a length of 1-10mm and, if necessary, a particulate or powdery metal to give a composition, which is heated and melted to provided a melt viscosity of 10<2>P or higher. This melt is extruded at a rate of 5cm/sec or higher under high shear stress to orient the short metal fibers in the thermoplastic resin.
