PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out the moving control of a pickup accurately by reversing the polarity of a permanent magnet of a speed detector. CONSTITUTION:The direction of magnetic flux passing through a yoke member 14(a) of the part surrounded by a driving coil 14(d) is in an opposite direction to the direction in which the leakage flux X generated from a driving coil 13(d) of a linear motor 13 passes through the driving coil 14(d) by effects of a permanent magnet 14(b) of a speed detector 14. Accordingly, the leakage flux X is distorted so as to take such a path that does not pass through the driving coil 14(d). Therefore, no adverse influence is given to a speed signal outputted from the driving coil 14(d), and the speed detection of an optical pickup 11 can be accurately made by a simple constitution, and the shortening of a data access time can be promoted.
