Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-cleanliness alloy remarkably reduced in N content, by applying denitriding slag in which respective contents of Al2O3, oxides of alkaline earth metals, titanium oxide, etc., are specified. CONSTITUTION:Slag containing, by weight, 15-70% Al2O3, 20-82% oxides of alkaline earth metals, such as BaO, CaO, and MgO, and 3-25% titanium oxide and/or Zr2O3 is prepared. If necessary, CaF2 and/or CaCl2 is further added to the above by <=about 30% to regulate components. The above slag is suitable for carrying out the denitriding treatment of Fe-base, Co-base, or Ni-base alloy.
