Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a thermal transfer film from being needlessly moved in a take-up direction together with the movement of a transfer recording paper or being wrinkled, by providing a means for locking a payout roll synchronously with a press-releasing operation of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:Even after completion of a transferring operation, a transfer recording paper 9 is fed toward a feeding passage 12 for discharge concurrently with the rotation of a platen 1. In this case, since ink layers are transferred from thermal transfer films 6a-6c onto the paper 9, the paper 9 is fed while releasing the ink layers from base films. Therefore, due to adhesion between the ink layers transferred to the paper 9 and the base films, forces in the directions for feeding the transfer films 6a-6c are exerted on the transfer films 6a-6c by the moving force of the paper 9. Since the rotation of payout rolls 5a-5c are inhibited by the locking means 21, however, the transfer films are prevented from being moved in take-up directions together with the paper 9 or being wrinkled.
