Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the speed of an automobile accurately, by correcting a vehicle speed detection signal by outputs from vibration sensors mounted on front and rear wheel axles. CONSTITUTION:Vibration sensors 2-4 and 2-7 are mounted respectively on a front wheel axle 2-3 and a rear wheel axle 2-6 and vibration detection signals therefrom are outputted to a vehicle speed computation unit 1. A vehicle speed computation unit 1 computes a correction factor from an output time difference obtained from the vibration detection signals, a distance L between the front axle 2-3 and the rear wheel axle 2-6 and a vehicle detection signal. This corrects the vehicle speed detection signal by the correction factor, thereby enabling accurate detection of a vehicle speed.
