Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure a trace component at a high accuracy, by providing an elution path, adapted to transmit carbon dioxide but being impervious to a liquid, between a removal column and a detector and a carbon dissolving column having a carbon dioxide atmosphere wrapping the path. CONSTITUTION:A sample liquid containing a trace of ions is discharged outside a system via a concentration column 2, a valve 10 and a measuring device 11 from a sample pump 7 by way of a valve 9. Here, an acid component of the sample liquid is adsorbed by an anion exchange resin of the column 2. Then, valves 9 and 10 are switched and an eluate is sent to the concentration column 2 from a pump 1 to elute the acid component. Then, the liquid is sent to a separation column 3, a removal column 4, a carbon dissolving column 12 and a detector 5. The column is provided with a tube 15, adapted to transmit carbon dioxide but being impervious to a liquid, in a carbon dioxide atmosphere 14. This can keep the density of carbon dioxide of the eluate constant, thereby achieving a higher measuring accuracy.
