Abstract

A new threshold value is provided between two threshold values to identify the ternary code at the reception side to form a 4-row and 4-column matrix, then bits relating to bits arranged at adjacent positions are allocated to the inner 2-row 2-column matrix. Thus, the bit error rate is reduced without widening the transmission band.
