Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having excellent controllability of light intensity and especially exhibiting good performance when dispersed in a polymer, by using plural kinds of specific photochromic compounds at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains (A) a photochromic compound of formula I [the group of formula II is (substituted)adamantylidene; R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group; X is O or group of formula III (R2 is H, aryl, alkyl or aralkyl); group of formula IV is aromatic group, unsaturated heterocyclic group or a heterocyclic group condensed with a benzene ring] and (B) one or more photochromic compounds selected from formulas V-VII [the group of formula VIII is (substituted)adamantylidene; R3 is H or alkyl; the group of formula IX is (substituted)norbornylidene; R4 and R5 are H, 1-20C alkyl, aryl or aralkyl]. The weight ratio of A:B is 1:(0.01-100).
