Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable continued adsorption of discharged recording liquid always in stable condition by extending an adsorption member, one end of which upper part is caused to come into contact with the discharge surface of a recording head downward and also setting one end of the upper part of the adsorption member above a head of water suction maintained when the adsorption member is impregnated with recording liquid. CONSTITUTION:The upper end of an adsorption member 31 is caused to come into contact with the discharge surface of a recording head 1. When the lower end 31A of the adsorption member 31 is immersed in recording liquid 33 in a container 32, the recording liquid 33 is gradually sucked by the adsorption member 31 due to capillarity. When a suction head reaches a prearranged height H0, it becomes balanced, and the recording liquid 33 discharged from an orifice is adequately adsorbed and held above a height equivalent to the head of water suction H0. In addition, the recording liquid 33 adsorbed in the part above said height descends as it is by gravity to be stored in a container. Subsequently, the adsorption member 31 itself properly adsorbs and discharges the recording liquid 33 without the necessity to squeeze out the recording liquid 33 because the storage into the container compresses the recording liquid.
