Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively filter out micro-clumping from blood without using an additional filter by accommodating a second filter for filtering the micro- clumping, downstream of a first filter which filters out large clumping stored in a filter chamber but allows the micro-clumping to pass therethrough. CONSTITUTION: Blood or the like flows from an upstream conduit 11 to the outside through a first filter 20, and is returned into a tube 15 through a second filter 25. The blood is pooled into a dripping chamber from the tube 15, and then flows into a downstream pipe 12 for transfusion into a patient. Large clumping is filtered out from the blood by the first filter 20, and is retained in the filter 20 while micro-clumping is filtered out by the second filter 25, being collected on the filter 25 and on the bottam of a filter chamber 13 around the filter 25. Accordingly, with the use of two separate filters, the filter for micro-clumping is prevented from clogging, and large clumping and micro- clumping in old preserved blood can be effectively filtered out.
