Abstract

PURPOSE:To significantly increase the liquid diffusivity and liquid absorption rate of the title article by setting a virgin pulp to regenerated pulp weight ratio at a specified value. CONSTITUTION:An absorptive article consists of a water absorbing polymer and a mixture of 10-98wt.% (preferably 50-90wt.%) defibrated virgin pulp and 90-2wt.% (preferably 50-10wt.%) regenerated used paper pulp. This absorptive article has far higher liquid absorption rate, liquid absorption capability and liquid retention under pressure (liquid retention after liquid has been absorbed and then pressurized) than an independently used fibrous component or water absorbing polymer. It is cost-efficient because low-cost regenerated used paper pulp can be reused.
