Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep the accuracy of sphygmomanometry uniformly over a wide range, by providing a booster means for calculating an air pressure fall rate in a cuff on the basis of the value detected by sphygmomanometry, comparing the calculated value with a preset value and bringing the air pressure fall rate near to the preset value, and a calculation command means for controlling a rapid evacuation means after sphygmomanometry. CONSTITUTION:A cuff is wrapped around the upper arm to start 41 sphygmomanometry, and a microprocessor presets 42 an initial air pressure value V0 and an air pressure fall rate S0 necessary in the measurement. Next a motor pump is started 43 to rapidly raise 4 an air pressure by supplying the air in the cuff to attain a preset V0 value. When the air pressure is raised to the preset value, a constant rate evacuation valve is opened to discharge 45 the air through a narrow tube at a constant rate. At the same time therewith, sphygmomanometry is started 46 and an air pressure fall rate S1 is compared 47 with a preset value S0. When the S1 value is greater than the S0 value, the air is supplied 48 by means of the motor pump to lower the pressure fall rate, while when not greater, constant rate evacuation is continued. The sphygmomanometry is continued without interruption to measure both the systolic and diatolic pressures. When it is determined that the measurement is completed, a rapid evacuation valve is opened to rapid discharge 52 the remaining air. Thus the air pressure fall rate can be kept constant over a wide range.
