Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance at an internal tube surface, by forming a coating layer on the internal tube surface by means of plasma spraying and then applying fusing to the surface of the above coating layer. CONSTITUTION:A plasma gas and cooling water are fed to a plasma torch 2 located in a tube 1 to be treated and a metal powder having superior corrosion resistance is also fed to the torch 2, and then, a high voltage is impressed by using a tungsten electrode 3 as an anode and also using the tube 1 as a cathode. As a result, arc discharge occurs and a plasma frame 4 is produced, by which the powder is melted and thermally sprayed on the internal tube surface to form a coating layer 7. Subsequently, a laser beam 8 is applied from a laser head 6 on the above coating layer 7 to fuse the surface of the coating layer 7, by which a fused layer 9 having dense surface is formed. By this method, corrosion resistance at the internal tube surface can be improved, and further, this method is applicable to the partial repair, etc., of a small- diameter tube.
