Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a wire material having no possibility of being damaged with external forces by applying an insulation layer on a thin film of oxide superconductor formed on a tape-like copper foil and arranging one of it the center or on the peripheral of a cable. CONSTITUTION:An insulation layer 2 made of raw materials such as Teflon, polyimide, glass nitride, silica, glass, etc., is formed on the periphery of a superconductor tape 1 made by fixing oxide superconductor 1b by firing or the like on both sides of a tape-like foil 1a formed with Cu or the like. Interposing intermediate insulation layers 2a between the superconductor tapes 1 to be arranged in layers, their periphery is covered with the insulation layer 2 to form a unit. This makes it possible to obtain the wire material having no possibility of being damaged with external forces produced by bending, etc., of the cable.
