Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a hypotensor, etc., under mild condition in high yield, by reducing 3-(3-nitratopropyl) ester 5-acetylmethyl ester of 1,4-dihydropyridine dicarboxylic acid and reacting with acetyl nitrate. CONSTITUTION:2,6-Dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-di carboxylic acid 3-(2-nitratopropyl) ester 5-(3-nitratopropyl) ester is produced by reacting 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid 3-(3- nitratopropyl) ester 5-acetylmethyl ester with a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride and reacting the resultant alcohol compound with acetyl nitrate. The produced compound is useful as a drug having long-acting hypotensive action and vasodilating action.
