Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to observe the image of the anterior part of an examined eye at a constant magnification without being affected by an operation for varying the magnification of a fundus oculi image, by providing an optical relay system for relaying the image of the anterior part formed by an auxiliary optical system via an alternative circuit to a face for forming a fundus oculi image. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary optical system 100 is located to be detachable from the optical paths between an objective lens 19 and a variable power lens 29 and between the objective lens 19 and an apertured mirror 17. When a fundus oculi F is observed and photographed, the system 100 is detached from the path, and when the anterior part G of an examined eye is observed, the system 100 is inserted into the path. A mirror 45 for changing an optical path is provided to be detachable in response to the condition of the auxiliary optical system 100. When the anterior part G of an examined eye is observed, the mirror 45 is inserted into the path between a diaphragm 25 and a focused lens 27 so as to form an optical relay system 200, which detours the variable power lens 29 to reach an imaging device 23, for relaying an image of the anterior part of an examined eye to the imaging device 23 used as a face for forming a fundus oculi image.
