Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance and durability of a magnetic coated film by incorporating a carbon black having a specific average grain size into a magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder of hexagonal barium ferrite or magnetic powder of hexagonal strontium ferrite and binder. CONSTITUTION:The carbon black having 100-400mmu average grain size is incorporated into the magnetic layer contg. the hexagonal barium ferrite or hexagonal strontium ferrite and the binder. The magnetic powder to be used is hexagonal planar barium ferrite and includes hexagonal barium ferrite such as BaFe12O19 and the barium ferrite in which part of Ba and Fe are substd. with Ca, Sr, Pb, Co, Ni, Ti, Cr, Zn, In, Mn, Cu, Ge, Nb, Zr, Sn and other metals. The durability of the medium is thereby greatly improved.
