Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely and simply seal a package in an air-tight enclosure not to give disadvantages thereto, by adhesion of folded parts thereof, applying ultrasonic vibration to a metal clip during or on pressing the package. CONSTITUTION:When a metal clip 3 is nipped with static pressure from both sides of an ultrasonic vibrator 4 and a holding block 9 and applied with ultrasonic vibration, the folded part tightly nipped within the metal clip 3 is locally welded by means of the ultrasonic vibration energy to be completely sealed. Conditions to apply the ultrasonic vibration depend on factors such as material and thickness of plastic film, material and size of the metal clip 3. Accordingly, preferable conditions may be chosen by experiments. When the metal clip 3 is calked and ultrasonic vibration is simultaneously applied, it is effective to provide such a structure as generates compressive force possible of the calking action against the holding block 9 and the ultrasonic vibrator 4, and to bring them close to each other with calking and also to calk with ultrasonic vibration after a certain extent of calking.
