Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a food additive, etc., in granular form in high efficiency, by culturing Euglena in a specific medium, removing a part of the cultured liquid, disintegrating the microbial cells and subjecting the product to centrifugal separation. CONSTITUTION:Euglena is cultured in a medium consisting of an aqueous solution containing 1-3wt.% of a saccharose-type hexose and further containing NH4<+> at an atomic ratio (C/N) of 10-35. A part of the liquid is removed from the cultured liquid e.g. by centrifugal separation and the cells in the cultured liquid is disintegrated with a crusher. The disintegrated cell is treated with a centrifugal separator to obtain the objective compound as a precipitate.
