Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable complete removal of water in a flow path of gas so as to decrease the loss of valuable He gas by a method wherein the mixed gas is processed through the mixture consisting of a high water absorbing resin and calcium chloride. CONSTITUTION:A laser oscillation is performed in such a manner as a mixed gas consisting of helium gas or the like as a carrier gas and nitrogen or carbon dioxide gas as an oscillation medium is recirculated, where the mixed gas is processed through the mixture which consists of a high water absorbing resin and calcium chloride. Such a high water absorbing resin which sets H2O 100 times as large in volume as itself is utilized for liquid H2O and the mixing ratio, which is used, of a high water absorbing resin to calcium chloride is generally as follows: the former:the latter= 100:10-100:100 (in weight). By these processes, water in a laser oscillation medium is chemically set, so that not only a stable laser output can be obtained, but also the loss of helium can be decreased.
