Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer having uniform and small particle diameter and suitable as a polymer for toner, etc., by polymerizing plural kinds of acrylates in the presence of a dispersing agent under agitation accompanying high-speed shearing only at the initial stage of the reaction. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be produced by mixing (A) a compound of formula I (R<1> is H or CH3; n is 2-4; m is 0-2; m+n=4) (e.g. pentaerythritol diacrylate) with (B) a compound of formula II (R<2> and R<3> are H or CH3; l is 1-30) (e.g. ethylene glycol monoacrylate) at a weight ratio (A/B) of preferably 4/1-3/7, adding (C) a dispersing agent (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol) to the mixture to form an aqueous suspension, reacting the suspension under high-speed shearing in such a manner as to form oil droplets having particle diameter of preferably 0.5-30mum until the polymerization ratio reaches e.g. 1wt.% and continuing the polymerization under agitation without applying high-speed shearing stress.
