Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a polyolefin having high stereoregularity, by polymerizing an olefin using a catalyst composed of a Ti-based solid component supported on an Mg compound and a specific titanium dialkyl compound. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is polymerized by using a catalyst composed of (A) a Ti-based solid component supported on an Mg compound [MgCl2, Mg(OR)2 (R is alkyl), RMgCl, RMgR' (R' is alkyl) or metallic Mg] and (B) a titanium dialkyl compound having a bidentate ligand consisting of a bridge-type compound having two groups selected from indenyl group and its partial hydrogenated group bonded with each other through a lower alkyl group [e.g. ethylenebis-(indenyl)titanium dimethyl or 1,3-propanedinylbis(indenyl)titanium dimethyl].
