Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to securely lower the pressure in a brake line below the pressure of a damping reservoir, in a device in which the supply of working fluid to the brake line is stopped and the working fluid is discharged to the damping reservoir to avoid wheel locking, by employing a discharge pump. CONSTITUTION:An inlet valve 4 is provided on a fluid passage between a master cylinder 2 and a wheel brake 3 while an outlet valve 5 is provided on a fluid passage leading from the inlet valve 4 to the wheel brake 3. While a low pressure damping reservoir 6 for temporarily storing the working fluid discharged out of the outlet 5 is provided, a high pressure pump 16 for delivering the working fluid in the reservoir 6 to a master cylinder line is also provided. In such a device, a low pressure discharge pump 13 is arranged on a fluid passage between the outlet 5 and the damping reservoir 6. Designing both pumps 16, 13 as plunger pumps commonly driven with an eccentric cam 17, it is arranged such that the pressure in the brake line can be reduced below the pressure of the reservoir 6 by the action of the discharge pump 13.
