Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve high-temp. resistance and handling characteristic by using polyglycerol and/or polyglycerol deriv. or an aq. soln. contg. the same as a coupling medium. CONSTITUTION:The polyglycerol PG and/or PG deriv. or the aq. soln. contg. PG and/or PG deriv. is used as the coupling medium for a non-destructive inspection. The PG includes, for example, the PG expressed by formula I. The degree of polymn. (n) is preferably 4-10. The PG deriv. includes the PG fatty acid ester obtd. by the esterification reaction of the PG expressed by formula I and fatty acid of 2-10C. The above-mentioned PG and PG deriv. are used independently or in combination and the compounding ratio thereof is more particularly preferably >=85wt.% in the coupling medium. The volume of the water in the case of using the aq. soln. is particularly preferably set at 5-40pts. wt. per 100pts.wt. PG and/or PG deriv. Then, the medium which can transmit transverse ultrasonic waves, withstands high temp. and has the excellent workability in ultrasonic penetration type flaw detection is obtd.
