Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to have a high carrying ability and good durability and prevent contamination to a subject matter by providing two or more throughholes at a roughly constant interval along the circumference and forming a pattern of a net-like unevenness in the surface of the roller. CONSTITUTION:A carrying roller 3 comprises a resilient layer 3b consisting of a cylindrical resilient member, the resilient layer 3b is installed attached to the outer circumference of a shaft 4, and the resilient layer 3b and the shaft 4 are structurally integrated. The resilient layer 3b is provided with two or more throughholes 3c which are formed through the length of the roller around the shaft 4 and disposed at a roughly constant interval along the circumference of the roller, and a surface pattern of grid-like protrusions is applied in the whole surface of the roller uniformly. As a result, by provision of the throughholes 3c, material of a high rigidity which has conventionally been impossible to be used practically can be used, and formation of a pattern of unevenness results in a good durability and a high carrying ability, while contamination of transfer material can be reduced.
