Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the correct and reproducible measurement result by controlling a temperature difference between a measuring head and a machine tool or a work on the basis of the change of an ambient temperature, by circulating a heat medium such as oil or the like in a passage formed by a hollow chamber in a support. CONSTITUTION: A non-contact measuring device 15 is mounted between a tool head 5 and a horizontal member 4, for measuring a feeding stroke of a tool, or measuring a size of a work. This non-contact measuring device 15 comprises a 16 and a measuring head 17, the reference scale is mounted along the horizontal member 4, and the measuring head 17 is relatively moved to the scale 16. The measuring head 17 reads the scale 16, and transmits the same to a digital processing unit. Further one of the walls of a hollow chamber 20 where a heat medium such as oil or the like is circulated, is used as a mounting wall 21 of the measuring scale 16.
