Abstract
PURPOSE: To attempt power saving by allowing a pressure control to be performed by means of the pumping action caused by the combined use of the pressure change in a plenum chamber and a check valve in the specified range requiring response in the average pressure change width of an operating plenum of a Stirling engine.
CONSTITUTION: The operation plenum 7 of a Stirling engine consists of a high temperature plenum (expansion chamber), a low temperature plenum (compression chamber), a heater section, a cooler section and a regeneration section, and the low temperature plenum thereof is connected with a crank case 9 via the sealing member of a piston. In this case, the crank case 9 is communicated with the operation plenum 7 through a check value 4 which makes the direction to the operation plenum normal. And the operation plenum 7 is communicated with a storage tank 2 through both a check value 5 and an open/close valve 10 which make the direction to the storage tank 2 normal, furthermore,the storage tank 2 is also communicated with a compressor 1 through an open/close value 11. Then, the average pressure of the operation plenum 7 is designed so as to be controlled with each open/close value 10 and 11 controlled and also with the compressor 1 driven.
