Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize a moment of inertia of a carriage and an absolute value of a yaw angle between a head and a track by fitting slantingly the head to a supporting mechanism and correcting unbalance in the absolute value of the yaw angle. CONSTITUTION:The head 32 fitted to a head arm 34 via the supporting mechanism 33 is accessed to a target track by oscillating the head arm 34, so as to perform the read/write of data on a disk 31. The head 32 is slantingly fitted to the supporting mechanism 33, thus correcting an unbalance between the yaw angle theta1 at the innermost side track (IT) and the yaw angle theta0 at the outermost side track (OT) in their absolute values. By this method, a disk device having a small moment of inertia of the carriage, difficulty in arising of an off-track positioning error, and a small absolute value of the yaw angle between the head 32 and the track can thus be obtained.
