Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the machinability and wear resistance of the titled member by using alumina fiber having specific volume ratio of the fiber for reinforcing and using a high SiAl alloy having specific average grain size of primary crystal Si as the matrix. CONSTITUTION:The fibrous volume ratio of the alumina fiber for reinforcing is set to 3-10% to improve the machinability of the reinforced member. The Si content in the high SiAl alloy as the matrix is furthermore regulated to 14-20wt.% and the average grain size of primary crystal Si is set to 10-50mum to improve the wear resistance of the member. Since the Si content in the matrix is high, the decline of the fibrous reinforcing capacity incident to the lowering of the volume ratio of the reinforcing fiber can be covered by the alloy having high strength. The falling of primary crystal Si can furthermore be prevented and the wear resistance of the part to be reinforced by the fiber can be improved by specifying the average grain size of primary crystal Si.
