Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the length of a furnace and to enable uniform heating by combining rapid heating using induction heating and uniform heating using ordinary heating in the heat treatment of nonmagnetic high and low conductive materials. CONSTITUTION:An induction heater 1 and a soaking device 2 for ordinary heating are provided, and a heat insulating seal connection 4 is furnished between both devices. The strip 6 (band body) of a material to be treated such as a nonmagnetic conductive material is rapidly heated in the induction heater (zone A) from an initial temp. TO to a temp. close to a target temp. TF by the temp. difference theta1. After such heating, the temp. of the strip 6 in the. cross direction is still nonuniform. The temp. T1 shows the hightemp. part of the nonuniform temp., and is slightly lower ( theta2) than the target temp. TF, or may be equal to TF. The strip 6 is then passed through the soaking device (B zone), and heated to the target temp. TF. The strip 6 is uniformly heated by this heating process to a temp. within the tolerance.
