Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retardant styrene polymer composition moldable by injection molding, advantageous in view of productivity and economic efficiency and having low linear expansion coefficient and high specific gravity, by adding glass fiber, a halogen-based flame-retardant, zinc oxide and an antimony compound to a base polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by preliminarily mixing (A) 15-45wt.% of a styrene polymer, preferably AS polymer or ABS polymer with (B) 10-40wt.% of glass fiber having diameter of 6.13mum, preferably glass fiber strand surface-treated with a silane compound and having a fiber length of 1-10mm, (C) 3-62wt.% of a halogen-based flame-retardant (e.g. decabromodiphenyl oxide), (D) 4-71wt.% of zinc oxide preferably having particle diameter of <=45mum and (E) 1-67wt.% of an antimony compound, preferably antimony oxide, especially antimony trioxide with e.g. Henschel mixer and extruding the obtained mixture under melting.
