Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize electromagnetic wave noise generated by discharge excitation, by composing the first and second discharge assemblies so that the anode and the cathode thereof discharge in opposite directions or the spark gap thereof discharges oppositely, at least, enabling each assembly to operate simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:When the voltage between the both electrodes each of capacitors (C2) 30 and 35 reaches a definite value (the starting voltage depending on the discharge gap between spark gap and anode=cathode) as discharge proceeds, the electric charge stored in capacitors (C2) 30 and 35 moves in the path of 2 and 2' then main discharge is obtained between the anode and the cathode of the first and second discharge assemblies to generate laser beam. Because the flow of discharge which runs through spark gaps 31 and 36 becomes opposite at 31 and 36, electromagnetic wave is extinguished thereby even in case of arc discharge at a high current and, therefore, noise does not generate. Similarly, in the main discharge of the first and second discharge assemblies, the directions at 2 and 2' are opposite each other and the electromagnetic wave which is generated by the main discharge is also thereby extinguished.
