CONSTITUTION:A fuel assembly 11 is formed of small units 13 of three columns and three rows by fuel rods 12, and eight sets of the small units 13 are incorporated in a square channel box. As compared with the fuel assembly 1 in which the fuel rods 3 are arranged at intervals of P0, the center distance P1 and P2 of the fuel rods 12 are larger than Pc, P0 is smaller than Pc, the ratio of the distance between the small units and the neighboring small units 13 W1 or W2 to thermal neutron diffusion length are enlarged.
