Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit a coating film to develop the nature of an organic coating film while maintaining the nature of an inorganic coating film, by a method wherein the principal constituent of the coating film, provided on the surface of a wheel for vehicles, is constituted of a polymer or a copolymer of colloidal silica, a partial hydrolysis condensate of a organoalkoxysilane and unsaturated ethylene monomer. CONSTITUTION:A coating 21 is applied on the surface of the disc 11, for example, of an aluminum wheel H. The principal constituent of the coat ing film 21 is polymer or a copolymer of colloidal silica, a partial hydrolysis condensate of organoalkoxysilane and the monomer of unsaturated ethylene. Polydimethyl siloxane, for example, is employed as the colloidal silica while acrylic compound, styrene, vinyl acetate or the like, for example, is employed as the monomer of unsaturated ethylene. When 5-50 weight % of the solids constituent of the polymer or the copolymer of the unsaturated ethylene monomer is contained per the total weight of the coating, the effect becomes remarkable. Such a coating film 21 is formed applying a coating, suitable for the constituents of the aluminum wheel, on the disc 11 while the calcine temperature of 100 deg.C-200 deg.C is suitable. The mixture of water, methanol, isopropylene alcohol, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether or the like may be employed for the solvent of the coating.
