PURPOSE: To prevent bacteria from entering folds and to prolong the preserva tion period of a product by welding the folds in a sausage for which a raw material is filled in a tubular thermoplastic skin, an end part is reduced and the folds are formed. CONSTITUTION: After the prescribed amount of a sausage raw material is filled in the tubular skin 19 composed of a thermoplastic material by a filler 18, the end parts of the sausage raw material are reduced by tightening sliders 12 and closed by closing tools 7, 8, 23 and 24. The folds formed by reduction are welded by a welding device 26. The welding can be either thermal welding or ultrasonic welding.
