Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable quick indication of acceleration or seismic intensity of an earth quake, by detecting the max. value of a seismic signal recorded continuously to hold a detection value while it is displayed digitally. CONSTITUTION:Vibration of an earth quake generated is converted with a seismometer 1 into an electrical signal, which is converted with an A/D converter 2 into a digital value to be inputted into an IC card 3. Then, a seismic wave signal is recorded sequentially into a waveform recording circuit 4 of the card 3. On the other hand, the max. value of the electrical signal thus converted into the digital value with the converter 2 is detected with a max. detecting/holding circuit 5 of the card 3 and translated to acceleration or seismic intensity, a value of which is shown digitally on a display device 6. This enables quick indication of acceleration or seismic intensity of the earth quake at the generation moment thereof.
