Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the flatness within a short period of time without malfunction by processing maximum and minimum values of digital signals corresponding to minor displacement in the vertical direction with respect to horizontal direction on a disc plane with digital signals.
CONSTITUTION: A minor displacement in the vertical direction with respect to the horizontal direction on a disc plane in a disc rotating part 8 is converted into an analog signal at a detecting part 9, and this analog signal is sampled in a sample hold circuit 10. The analog signal held here is converted into a digital signal in an A/D converter 11 to be fed into a miximum value detecting circuit 19 and minimum value detecting circuit 20. The digital output signals from the maximum value detecting circuit 19 and the minimum value detecting circuit 20 are processed in a subtraction circuit 16 to find the difference. Thus, the flatness of the disc is determined, and the maximum value, minimum value and flatness are displayed in a display unit 17
