Abstract

PURPOSE:To inhibit the oxidation of stock for hot plastic working and to provide lubricity at the time of forging by dipping the stock in a molten glassy coating material contg. metal oxides to form a homogeneous glassy coating film on the surface of the stock. CONSTITUTION:A glassy coating material is prepd. by adding metal oxides to glass contg. B2O3, SiO2 and Na2O as principal components. The coating material is melted and stock for hot plastic working is dipped in the molten coating material to form a homogeneous glassy coating film on the surface of the stock.
