Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively remove water in a short time and to obtain fluoride glass, by introducing a halogen-containing reaction gas into melt of constituent raw material of fluoride glass, bubbling the gas. CONSTITUTION:In producing fluoride glass by melting a constituent raw material of fluoride glass under heating and then cooling, a reaction gas containing a halogen or a halide is introduced into melt of the constituent raw material and bubbled. A gas containing at least one of halogens and halides such as chlorine trifluoride (ClF3), nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), carbon tetrafluoride (CF4), fluorine (F2), carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), chlorine (Cl2) and difluorodichloromethane (CCl2F2) is used as the reaction gas. The bubbling is carried out through a reaction gas introduction pipe made of carbon entered in the melt.
