Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heat transfer performance of a heat exchanger by cladding a brazing filler metal to the outer periphery of a heat transfer pipe, inserting it into the through hole of a plate fin and melting the brazing filler metal by heating it. CONSTITUTION:A plate fin 1 is made by press-forming a plate stock and a heat transfer pipe 2 is formed as well by working a pipe stock. The heat transfer pipe 2 is then inserted into the through hole 7 of the fin 1 forming a fin collar 3. On the other periphery of the pipe 2 a brazing filler metal 2b is cladded in advance. The heat transfer pipe 2 assembled to the through hole 7 and fin 1 are arranged inside an inert atm. furnace, heated at high temp. and a brazing is executed in a fixed state by a fin supporting tool 5. The fin 1 and heat transfer pipe 2 are metallurgically joined and the deformation of the fin 1 and pipe 2 at joining time is prevented. Consequently the heat transfer performance of a heat exchange is improved.
